Job Bank Down

When I attempt to interrogate the Government of Canada Job Bank for 4213 and 4215 vacancies I receive a page that says, in part: 'Job Bank and Job Bank for Employers are currently unavailable due to technical difficulties.' This has been the case for several days now.

I don't know why this should be happening. Do any readers of this blog know?

Not sure, but as an unemployed Canadian, it's a bit distressing as the Job Bank is the most comprehensive data base that I'm aware of. Of course there are alternatives like the Monster type sites but the government Job Bank was/is the best for searching for work in every small community in Canada.

Just a personal opinion, but I believe our right wing conservative government is going to kill the website, hence the link on the page to "alternative" sites that are just private job seeking sites, like Workopolis, etc.

Believe me, I am not surprised to hear that you find it 'a bit distressing' that the Job Bank is unavailable. For the sake of you and a lot of other people I hope it's back very, very soon.

I think that the Job Bank is the best of the bunch in another important way. It tags vacancies with their NOC classifications making it much easier to find those that might be suitable for any particular job seeker.

Let's hope that the Job Bank is not going to be one of the Harper Government's targets.

Well the Service Canada Job bank has been officially having technical difficulties for 10 days now.

As a soon to be unemployed person (Friday March 2, 2012), I don't believe that this is fair or just to people who are attempting to find employment. They have alternates but in reality, it is not just the job seekers that are having problems with the site, it is also the employers. As taxpayers, I feel that they are also on the losing end of this fiasco. In all the years that this website has been available, I have never seen it down for this long.
